Omission of age is most often due to:
- muscle weakness, raising the eyelid;
- damage to the nerves that control the muscles;
- the weakening of the skin of the upper eyelids.
Hanging eyelid may be due to:
- normal aging process;
- as a result of injury or illness;
- it is present at birth (congenital feature).
disease or illness that can lead to sagging eyelids:
- a brain tumor or other cancer, which can affect nerve or muscle reactions;
- Horner's syndrome;
- myasthenia gravis.

Blepharoplasty is done to treat sagging (ptosis) of the upper eyelid.This is an operation to change the shape of the eyelids or eye shape.This type of surgery involves excision of excess skin and fat formations.The indications for blepharoplasty are overhanging skin of the upper and lower eyelids, "fat bags" the eyelids, drooping of the lower corners of the eyes, or the shape of the cut unsightly eye.Excess skin and fat are removed during surgery through incisions in the natural folds of the eye.Blepharoplasty is performed in a hospital under general anesthesia for 2-3 hours.rehabilitation period does not exceed 10-12 days.In less severe cases it may be done to improve the appearance of age.In more severe cases, surgery may be needed to correct interference with vision.In children with ptosis surgery may be necessary to prevent amblyopia, also called "lazy eye."
